HOW DO I GET CANDDIATES TO CALL BACK AND ATTEND THE INTERVIEW?
This is a sometimes daunting task, however there are some EASY steps to ensure success.
Firstly, text and call any potential candidates. A recorded voice message, with a professional yet, inviting message also works really well.
Let them know that you have received their resume, and would love to speak with them and perhaps organise a time to meet to discuss the role. The word “interview” can be a bit scary, so “a time to meet and discuss the role” makes it less threatening, and therefore, more inviting. This is SO IMPORTANT – we want to encourage them to return our calls. And yes, there are many people who do not, and unfortunately this is common SO WE NEED TO STAND OUT FROM THE CROWD!
Please remind them that if for any reason they cannot attend to please give a quick text or call, as you are taking time out of your day, and otherwise, could book other clients in.
Then, when they attend, make sure you are not reading from a list of questions.
Let them know how long the discussion will take so you have a boundary in place.
Then, make the conversation, professional, yet friendly.
Go through their resume with them, ask them about their hobbies, family etc, and allow them to open up, so they will have more of a chance to be honest with you, and potentially want to work with you (if it is a win/win for both of you).
Then, do your reference checks straight away, secure them and make sure the contract is signed asap.
If all sounds too hard, we are always here for you, and can give you guidance and advice.
